The two professional bodies Ð the British Orthoptic Society and the Irish Association of Orthoptists Ð will host a joint scientific conference at Dublin's Trinity College.
The meeting, prompted by the arrival of compulsory continued professional development, will hear from 'leading orthoptists and ophthalmologists from both Ireland and the UK, several of whom are world authorities in their fields'.
The three-day event will include special sessions on amblyopia, drugs and strabismus and paediatrics. On the opening day, part of the morning session will be devoted to refractive surgery and strabismus.
The meeting, which includes a gala evening, will take place from July 2-4, and more details can be found at the website www.conferencepartners.ie
