Specsavers' Professional Advancement Committee (PAC) 2010 one-day conference on October 17 looks to provide practitioners with a flexible programme of professional development and CET.
Clinical, dispensing and contact lens programmes will be offered alongside hands-on workshops, paper-based and online CET quizzes as well as a post-conference webcast.
A line-up of international and UK speakers will include representatives from CIBA Vision, CooperVision, Bausch+ Lomb, Sauflon, Anglia Ruskin University, the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and the British Contact Lens Association.
Dr Philip Morgan from the University of Manchester will discuss staining Dr William L Jones from Jones Eyecare, New Mexico, will present on peripheral retinal degenerations, while Chris Steele from the Sunderland Eye Infirmary will talk about glaucoma management and clinical decision-making in primary care. Practitioners can gain up to eight CET credits for the day plus a further six credits through quizzes and webcasts.
PAC chairman Paul Carroll said: 'The PAC Conference is open to all practitioners, not just Specsavers' employees and aims to deliver a broad range of topics pertinent to high street practice, offering both quality and quantity in one day. With delegate numbers remaining year on year at 1,000 or more, regardless of where we are in the CET cycle, we believe this demonstrates how much practitioners value a well-organised, live event where they can hear from entertaining speakers and network.'
