Delegates at the NOC showed keen interest in the changes taking place at Primary Care Support England following its takeover by Capita.
Jill Matthews, national director of engagement, said most of PCSE’s 50 offices would close, with activity concentrated on four sites. PCSE is responsible for General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) forms and payment and compilation, and management of the optical performers list.
These will be redesigned and some elements of the form will require characters to be written in individual boxes to aid processing. There will also be a move to online ordering of supplies. New GOS forms are expected to be introduced towards the middle of next year and the move toward paperless working would continue. She assured delegates that as far as GOS forms are concerned, paperless working was ‘some way off’.
