Partnership supports young people into optics

SightCare and Insight Optical Training have partnered

SightCare and Insight Optical Training have partnered to help independent optical practices access the government’s £2 billion Kickstart Scheme and support young people into work.

The companies said that small employers often find it difficult to navigate government schemes and its partnership would provide opticians with valuable extra resources.

Designed to rebuild the economy, the Kickstart Scheme provides funds to employers in order to create job opportunities in the form of six-month placements.

SightCare and Insight said the partnership combined their national and local expertise in finding people jobs, as well as supporting optical practices.

John French, CEO of SightCare, said: ‘We will help independent optical employers to advertise and recruit, as well as deal with all the cumbersome admin, including payroll. We will provide support to the young person, so that they are ready for work and fully prepared for their next steps once the placement is complete. This is all at zero-cost to the employer.’
