Performance Optics acquisition extends Hoya’s global reach

Hoya has broadened its product portfolio with the acquisition of lens manufacturer Performance Optics and its subsidiaries, Vision Eese and Daemyung Optical.

Performance Optics employs over 2,000 people around the world and has manufacturing facilities in the US, Korea, China, Thailand and Indonesia. It specialises in the production of polycarbonate, photochromic, polarised and high index lenses.

‘The acquisition of Performance Optics expands Hoya’s customer reach, particularly through Vision Ease’s presence in the Americas and its strengths in polycarbonate products and technologies. Importantly, we also will augment our global research and development capabilities, creating a new technology centre of excellence outside of Japan,’ said Girts Cimermans, CEO of Hoya Vision Care.
