The Council said that following discussions with Coe, it supported his view that this was the appropriate time for him to hand over to a new chief executive in preparation for a newly constituted Council.
The GOC's chairman, Rosie Varley, paid tribute to Coe's achievements in taking forward a substantial reform programme since his appointment in 2001 and wished him well for the future.
