Phonak uses rechargeable battery technology for new hearing aids

Phonak’s latest hearing aid product platform, Belong, includes new lithium-ion rechargeable battery technology and has been designed to empower patients to keep up with their busy lifestyles.

The new Audéo B RIC products and lithium-ion rechargeable option, Audéo B-R, sport a new design profile and are available in four performance levels and nine colours.

The company said Audéo B-R was the world’s first hearing aid to feature a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery capable of providing 24 hours of power. A 30-minute fast charging option offers up to six hours of immediate use, but for wearers on the go, the device also provides smart charging options. The power pack provides power for seven full charges for two hearing aids, suitable for short trips where no power source is available. In addition, Phonak offers a compact mini-charger giving users full flexibility.

A company spokesperson said: ‘Research revealed that rechargeable batteries and rechargeable hearing aids are top of the list of features that hearing aid users are seeking. In response to this insight and based on years of research, development and intensive testing, Phonak Audéo B-R opens a new era to those affected by hearing loss.

Last month the Audéo B-R was awarded an iF Design Award in the product category, which included more than 5,500 entries. The iF jury were impressed with the smart charging options of the Audéo B-R.
