Carl Zeiss Vision believes there is the possibility to double the size of the photochromic lens market, in spite of the lenses having been on the market for many years.
The company highlighted a global consumer study it undertook last year showing that consumers knew about self-tinting lenses and appreciated their benefits, but they didn't purchase them due to the speed of activation and de-activation.
This, said CZV, was the motivation for its engineers to refine the technology and create PhotoFusion, which darkens up to 20 per cent faster than the company's existing photochromics and fades back two times faster.
