Plymouth University invests in new eye care centre

Plymouth Uni’s planned new centre

An investment of £7.7m will see the creation of a new Centre for Eyecare Excellence at the University of Plymouth for optometry teaching and patient care.

The new building will meet increased demand experienced at the existing centre and will have students delivering care under supervision to the public.

Professor Richard Davies, vice-chancellor at the University of Plymouth, said: ‘Our current Centre for Eyecare Excellence already welcomes hundreds of people each year and makes a great difference to our students, staff and the people of Plymouth.

‘Now, with more people wanting to study optometry with us, this new development will enable us to make even more of an impact within our community.’
