A pre-registration optometrist accused of inappropriately 'touching' a 14-year-old girl during an eye examination at Boots Opticians in Harlow has now been charged by police over the allegation.

Harbhajan Singh of Southall was bailed earlier this month to appear at Harlow Magistrates Court this week.

A police spokesman said: 'A 24-year-old man has been charged with sexual touching of a girl aged 13-15 on October 3 this year. He was bailed to appear at Harlow Magistrates on December 14.'

Singh was given an interim suspension order for one year by the GOC (News, November 24), pending the outcome of the police investigation.
