Optical representatives attended this year's World Congress on Active Ageing to present a poster highlighting the links between vision loss and ageing.
Niall McMurtry of the RNIB (pictured left) and Mark Nevin of the Optical Confederation (also pictured) attended the event from August 13-17 in Glasgow.
Nevin said: 'Over 80 per cent of sight loss occurs in people aged 60 and over and they are three times more at risk of depression than elderly people with normal sight. While about half of this sight loss is thought to be preventable, much of it is not and it is crucial all those at risk of, and affected by, sight loss get access to the interventions and support they need.'
