Independent practices and regional chains are spending more time with their patients and charging them less money, this week Optician Index reveals.
The market watch questions posed to the Optician panel in the data collection exercise for July concentrated on the length and cost of private eye examinations. This was taken for the week starting June 29.
Fees charged for an examination ranged from nothing to £42 with the average cost of a private eye examination among the panel being £30.97. This figure is 3.7 per cent lower or £1.21 cheaper than in the same survey one year ago.
