The former owner of Gray Opticians in Rugby told the Rugby Advertiser that the book was set in the Dark Ages and explored topics such as Celtic Christianity.
Gregg, who used the name Philip Gregge for the novel, said he added the e to his surname to become the top search result on Google.
‘I added an 'e' onto the end of my surname when I realised that if you searched 'Gregg' online you would get thousands of results - thanks to a certain baker,’ he said.
