Scotland’s Dr Scott Mackie and Andrew Matheson from Hampshire have both been named Optometrist of the Year at the Macular Society’s recent Awards for Excellence.
The charity said judges recognised the exemplary care they provide, their passion to improve services and how they do the very best they can for each patient.
‘Getting the Macular Society Award is a great honour and will spur me on to achieve greater things in this field, in diagnosis, treatment and research,’ said Matheson.
Dr Mackie has since been busy with the launch of two new CET lecture days for optometrists and therapeutic optometrists run by his company, Optical CET. The course takes place on November 3 in Belfast and at Cardiff University on November 24. Visit www.opticalcet.co.uk
