J&J Vision found a link between deteriorating eyesight and confidence to make a change

A survey carried out by Johnson & Johnson Vision found that deteriorating eyesight affected people’s confidence to make a change in their life or pursue their interests.

The contact lens company found almost 60% of 1,500 UK respondents have noticed that their eyesight changed since entering their forties, with 22% who said they lived with presbyopia.

Kate Stockwell, head of marketing for vision care in the UK and Ireland at Johnson & Johnson Vision, said: ‘The study indicates many adults aged 40 and older lack the self-assurance to be brave and change the direction of their career, or even pursue a new hobby. For some, this is because they fear trying new things, and we know changing eyesight can affect confidence.’
