Oliver Goldsmith has become the latest high profile donor to the British Optical Association Museum, located within the College of Optometrists.
Goldsmith presented museum curator Neil Handley with number 90 of 90 limited edition President frames produced to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the brand. Number 1 of 90 will be retained by Goldsmith.
‘The College’s museum is particularly pleased that the anniversary frame has links with an iconic Michael Caine movie, the original spectacles from which are often cited in historical publications as defining their era in the 1960s,’ said Handley.
‘Almost uniquely, the College museum is able to document the entire history of the 20th century through the styles of spectacle frame that were worn, whether fashionable or purely functional. The College now holds almost 4,000 pairs.’
