Integrated IT systems allowing optical practices and eye hospitals to communicate patient details better will be pivotal in improving public eye health, delegates agreed in final discussions before the sector’s Call to Action draws to a close this week.
A national stakeholder event was hosted by NHS England earlier this week, as part of its Call to Action for eye health, which launched in May and due to end on Friday.
The London meeting involved representatives from both high street and hospital settings, with around 130 people in attendance.
One of the participants, LOCSU managing director Katrina Venerus, told Optician there was a consensus that it must all start with better IT interactivity.
