Profession backs Stress Awareness Month

The profession, including associations, organisations and optical practices, marked Stress Awareness Month this April through a number of awareness drives online and in-practice.

The College of Optometrists highlighted on Facebook that optometrists, like many healthcare professionals, experience stress and signposted members to its podcasts and articles dedicated to ‘managing stress and fostering resilience’.

Specsavers featured a number of colleagues on its LinkedIn page to share their stories of promoting a healthy work-life balance within their teams and how to relax outside of work.

Optical Express advised patients that stress could lead to eye strain, blurred vision, migraines or light sensitivity, with clinical services director Stephen Hannan suggesting techniques including ‘exercising and deep breathing to relieve tension’.
