Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Professor David Gartry will present a lecture entitled ‘Femtosecond laser cataract surgery - the latest ‘quantum leap’!’ at Optometry Tomorrow Bitesize, the College of Optometrists’ one day conference in Manchester on September 27.

The Moorfields Eye Hospital consultant said: ‘Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery is the next big step forward in this field, offering patients a safer and more precise surgery. This lecture will help delegates to develop their understanding of this exciting advancement and its application in ophthalmic surgery, while also equipping them with the skills necessary to use this understanding in their interactions with patients.

As well as this session, the event will bring together some of the most well-received lectures, peer discussions and workshops from the College’s annual conference Optometry Tomorrow 2015, which was held in Brighton in March.

Optometry Tomorrow Bitesize also offers College members the chance to earn up to nine interactive CET points, including peer discussion for both optometrist and therapeutic competencies.

‘We are delighted to once again be offering professionals the opportunity to experience some of the highlights of Optometry Tomorrow, one of the UK’s leading Optometric events. This year’s Bitesize will allow attendees to continue their professional development through lectures, workshops and peer discussions, all on a variety of topics,’ said College president David Parkins.
