Professor Philip Morgan delivered a CET lecture entitled ‘Changing the world with contact lenses’ on day two of Optrafair 2015.
Professor Morgan, professor of optometry, director of Eurolens Research and program director for optometry at The University of Manchester, covered levels and performances of various contact lens materials and brands.
The scope for myopia control for children was also addressed, with Professor Morgan saying if myopia progression could be halted even quicker such lenses ‘could become quite mainstream’.
His latest research at The University of Manchester found a sample of 47 out of 54 teenagers were still using contact lenses after six months. Appearances, satisfaction and activities were shown to be the key motivators for young wearers.
