The Fordingbridge-based company, co-founded by former Bausch & Lomb marketing boss Nick Atkins and business partners from the profession Brian Collinson and David Goad, will run the pro-certification and refresher contact lens training days in November and December aimed at those who are about to take their certification exams.
PTR states that contact lens opticians who feel they are 'a little rusty' on complex RGP lens fitting will benefit too.
The first part of the linked two-day course will take place at David Thomas Contact Lenses, Northampton on November 27. 'Fitting, manufacture, and verification of complex RGP lenses' will include revision lectures by Atkins and Nick Hacket, as well as practical use of a radiuscope. There will also be hands-on opportunities regarding the manufacture of toric and complex lenses.
A second training event, 'Passing your exam with confidence' will take place on December 19 at Aston University Visual Sciences Department. There will be lectures in aftercare, complications in contact lens wear, RGP lens fitting, and exam etiquette, and workshops which include sessions on keratometry, slit lamp use, and rigid/soft lens fitting.
