The injection of the capital values Provis, which will sell the Daysoftuv lens, at &\#163;10m. Details of the one-day disposable were first revealed in optician late last year (News, November 17). The official launch was earlier this month (News, January 25 ). The lens - which is being sold via the internet for 20p per lens - is claimed to be the most advanced daily disposable, using soft edge technology, which Provis claimed made the lens the highest specification one-day on the market. SEP said it was delighted to provide funding to Mr Hamilton. Calum Paterson, managing director of SEP, led the funding of Mr Hamilton's first venture into contact lenses in 1993. This was known as Award and was later sold to Bausch & Lomb for &\#163;30m. It provided SEP with a 10-fold return on its investment. Mr Hamilton said the cash would allow Provis to accelerate its expansion plans and get news of the new lens out to the optical profession faster.
