Public trust in practices remains high

Public satisfaction in eye care professionals remained high, according to findings in the General Optical Council’s 2023 public perceptions research. 

Of respondents who had an eye examination in the past two years, 94% were satisfied with the optometrist who carried it out.  

Furthermore, optical practices became the public’s initial port of call for eye problems and got ahead of GP surgeries for the first time.  

Steve Brooker, director of regulatory strategy at the GOC, said: ‘The profession should be proud that public satisfaction and trust levels remain high, and I would like to thank all our registrants for their continued hard work and commitment.’
