Conlons Opticians claims to have found the oldest pair of spectacles in the North West. Anthony Lonton (pictured) from Kendal submitted spectacles dating back to 1760 in a competition running across all of Conlons' branch areas as part of the firm's 130th anniversary celebrations. Conlons' antique optical expert Brian Mitchell said: 'We had a huge number of excellent entries for each branch and were thrilled with how many people took part in our own special antiques roadshow. Mr Lonton's glasses date back to 1760 and are in excellent condition. The world's oldest pair of spectacles are from circa 1730 and are in the British Optical Association Museum.'
