Rawlings celebrates 100 years in Winchester

Past and present staff from Rawlings Opticians in Winchester celebrated the practice’s 100th anniversary with an event at the independent in October.

Patients attended an afternoon event with cheese, wine and cake, and enjoyed performances by artists from local theatre company, the Blue Apple Theatre.

Angela Clear, mayor of Winchester, was in attendance and local businesses donated raffle prizes, raising £960, which was doubled and rounded up to £2,000 by Rawlings.

A Guess the Name of the Bear competition paid tribute to practice founder, Alfred Rawling, and current company chair and HR director, Claire Shipway, shared the story of her 45-year career at the independent.
