Nick Rumney, chair of Optometry Giving Sight's national committee, was invited to Surrey to collect a £780 donation to the charity.
He visited Rawlings Opticians, which raised the cash through World Sight Day Challenge activities including cake sales, prize draws and collecting donations for repairs.
Rawlings' managing director Richard Rawling (pictured right) said: 'The massive difference that makes to people's life cannot be underestimated and makes the difference between a life of poverty and one of opportunity. We supported World Sight Day with a range of activities and were overwhelmed by the public's support and belief in the charity.'
