Recognising volunteers’ value

TPT has launched a new award to celebrate volunteers' contributions

The Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) has launched a new award designed to celebrate and recognise the contribution volunteers make to the charity and the lives of partially sighted people.

Named after Thomas Pocklington’s great nephew, a trustee at TPT for 37 years, the Rodney Powell awards comprised three categories: Outstanding volunteering team, Outstanding volunteer (individual) and Outstanding contribution to volunteering.

Emma Hughes, director of services for TPT, said: ‘These inaugural awards recognise the value volunteers’ engagement brings to the lives of blind and partially sighted people and are a fitting tribute to the commitment and dedication Rodney made to the charity as a volunteer trustee and chair.’

TPT has opened nominations and urged people to recommend people they think deserve recognition for their work between January 2020 and August 2021.
