A 6 per cent increase in the first-day attendance for Vision Expo East (VEE) on 2009's visitor numbers gave another positive indication of a recovery in the optical market.
Tom Loughran, vice president for Reed Exhibitions, said that the difficult economic situation of 2009 was also reflected in trade show attendance, but felt that after a successful first day at VEE 2010 overall visitor numbers would be as high as pre-recession figures.
PixelOptics executives used the show to unveil the launch plans of their electronic auto-focusing lens. The technology, unveiled to the industry at VEE 2009, will be marketed under the brand name emPower! And PixelOptics said market tests would be conducted in the fourth quarter of 2010 with a full roll-out to follow shortly after.
