A retinal angiogram will feature in an annual exhibition of images for science by the Royal Photographic Society.
The image was captured by ophthalmic science practitioner Richard Hancock (pictured), from Liverpool’s Aintree University Hospital, on the Heidelberg Spectralis instrument.
It was one of 2,300 images submitted for consideration by hundreds of photographers and one of 100 selected for the exhibition.
‘I am incredibly proud to have my work included in the exhibition. The actual area of my image is less than 5mm in diameter and it is rare to see such capillary detail,’ he said.
The exhibition opens at the British Science Festival in Bradford in September, and will then tour to Manchester, Edinburgh and Cheltenham.
