As part of the Wiltshire Community Pride Awards, a Courage Award will be presented to an individual showing immense courage in the face of adversity or danger.
South-West based opticians Haine and Smith has supported the Swindon Advertiser in its drive to recognise people who make a real difference to their local area.
Senior partner at Haine and Smith, Barry Smith (pictured with Sue Haine), said: ‘Haine and Smith is delighted to be supporting this celebration of heroes in our communities with these new awards, and we are looking forward to hearing about people out there going the extra mile.’
Nominees are eligible if they have performed an act of goodwill above and beyond what was expected of them – from helping out a neighbour in need to saving a life.
Entries will be reduced to a shortlist of three by a panel of judges and the winner will be revealed at a ceremony in September at the Marriott Hotel in Swindon.
‘This is a really good opportunity for them to get the recognition they deserve and for us to get alongside the communities we serve,’ added Smith.
