RNIB creates sight loss inspired coasters to highlight better eye health

RNIB produces coasters as seen through eyes of someone with sight loss

Coasters depicting Scottish landmarks as seen through the eyes of someone with sight loss have been produced by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Images on the coasters include Edinburgh Castle as seen through age-related macular degeneration and the Callanish Stones in the Western Isles as seen through diabetic retinopathy.

RNIB has distributed the coasters, produced to mark National Eye Health Week, to selected pubs and cafes to encourage people to have regular eye examinations.

Campaigns officer for RNIB Scotland Cate Vallis said: ‘With many sight loss conditions, damage to vision can be arrested or even reversed if the symptoms are detected early enough. Glaucoma, for example, can usually be successfully treated. That's why it's so very important that people do get their eyes examined every two years.’
