RNIB launches tactile watches

A range of tactile watches have launched for people living with sight loss

A range of tactile watches designed for people living with sight loss have been developed by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Watches have been made with robust stainless-steel hands and a Swiss movement to ensure accuracy and a longer product life, the charity said.

David Clarke, director of services at the RNIB, said: ‘We started developing our own range of tactile watches after customers told us that they wanted high-quality time-pieces that offered accuracy and functionality, without compromising on style.

‘We’re thrilled with the look and finish of these products, which are also built to last longer than traditional tactile watches. They are available in various sizes and colours so there should be something to suit all tastes.’

Each watch has two raised bars indicating 12 o’clock, a single raised bar indicating three, six and nine o’clock, and one dot for each hour in between.

Even numbered hours are also printed in black on the face of the watch and the case lid open at the six o’clock position.

The watches have a brushed stainless-steel case and a leather strap, with availability in two sizes and two case colours.
