West country-based independent Robert Frith Optometrists has taken over the I J Brown partnership from partners Alun Bevan and Paul Wallis for an undisclosed sum.
I J Brown employs 30 staff in its practices across Bridport, Dorchester, Swanage and Weymouth.
Frith general manager David Goad said: ‘The acquisition of the I J Brown Partnership is like a marriage made in heaven. The ethos of both groups is identical and will put the wider group in almost all the major Dorset towns.’
Although the sale was prompted by a need to consider future retirement planning, both Alun Bevan and Paul Wallis will be continuing with the group.
Bevan said: ‘Paul and I are immensely proud of what our staff and ourselves have achieved with I J Brown and it was of vital importance to us to protect the group for our patients and our staff. Robert Frith Optometrists ticked all the boxes in that respect.’
