Rodenstock recently donated 10,000 stock single-vision lenses to be used in a vision centre in southern Ethiopia as part of an ongoing service to disadvantaged patients who urgently need access to spectacles.
Rodenstock UK managing director Dietmar Rathbauer explained: 'Whenever possible we look to work with organisations such as Vision Aid Overseas in helping developing countries have a suitable ophthalmic offering.'
Detailing how Rodenstock's support would help provide eye care to ordinary Ethiopians, Dr Natalie Briggs, chief executive of VAO, said: 'We are delighted with the lenses that Rodenstock has donated to us. Our vision centres provide a vital service in areas where optometric eye care would otherwise be unavailable.'
