Rodenstock is rolling out a support programme for the independent sector to help practices understand their position in their local markets and to differentiate themselves better.
Niels Jensen, managing director said, he had studied the dynamics of the UK optical market since taking control of Rodenstock UK last May and wanted to help its independent customers compete in light of the shifts that have taken place in the UK optical market. “There has been a significant shift in chains versus the independents,” he said. “It’s incumbent upon us as a supplier to be as supportive as we can be to these independents.
The Rodenstock Category Management Programme will be rolled out in the second quarter of this year, initially to gather feedback from some leading practices. He said the RCMP asked some fundamental questions about the practice, where is was in the market, what its strengths and weaknesses were and where the practice owner wanted to be. Once those issues had been decided Rodenstock will work with the practice to put the plans in place to achieve its goals.
