An optometrist at Specsavers Wellington has announced his plan to attempt the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge

Martin Skehan, an optometrist at Specsavers Wellington, has announced his plan to attempt the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

In attempting the 3,000 mile rowing race in 2021, Skehan said he hoped to raise £100,000 for the Severn Hospice and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Skehan planned to undertake the challenge with three friends, one of whom is sight impaired, as the Wrekin Rowers.

RNIB’s senior challenge events manager, Lizzi Wagner, commented: ‘Martin and the team are absolute superstars and we’re very proud and grateful to have them aboard Team RNIB.’
