Rx Google Glass to be released

Lenses

With confusion still lingering about how vision correction will be integrated into its Google Glass augmented reality eyewear, the technology giant has revealed that a spectacle-compatible version is only a few months away.

The claim was made by Babik Parviz, founder and head of the Google Glass project at The Hot Chip technology conference in California last week. ‘In the next few months we will release a version that will integrate into glasses,’ said Parviz at the conference. He added that if Glass performed well in the market when it launched some time next year, different optics would be offered.

It was also hinted that Google could work on augmented reality contact lenses in the future. Parviz, who worked on displays for contact lenses as a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle, said previous projects featured one-pixel wireless displays, but were difficult to work on and new ventures might be possible in the future.
