Safilo bullish over outlook for new brands

Safilo has posted a 25 per cent fall in net operating profit for the third quarter of 2007 compared to the same period last year because of unusual level of deliveries which took place in 2006.

Safilo has posted a 25 per cent fall in net operating profit for the third quarter of 2007 compared to the same period last year because of unusual level of deliveries which took place in 2006.

Safilo said that the net profit for the third quarter for 2007 was €5.4m down from €7.3m in 2006.

It added that the third quarter in 2006 had benefited from turnover which related to orders placed but not shipped due to production capacity constraints during the first half of last year.

For the first nine months of 2007, Safilo reported a 33.1 per cent increase in net profit to €38.7m and sales rose by 7.1 per cent to €903.9m.
