Safilo unveils first of its Dior Homme Eyewear range

Safilo has introduced the sunglass AL13, the first model in its Dior Homme Eyewear collection.With the main eyewear collection of 20 frames and sunglasses to be launched in October, the company is whetting the appetite of practitioners with the launch of an aluminium sunglass that weighs in at 24g. It describes the material as having proven solidity, a low ageing rate, is 30 per cent lighter than titanium, 100 per cent nickel-free, with optimal skin tolerance and no reaction to acid skin types, sweat, or humid climates.Describing the manufacture, Safilo states that the material is seldom used in frame production, and is cold cut from a single piece by a computer-controlled machine. There are no soldered or joined parts and the sunglass uses a flexible lateral hinge.AL13, described as fluid and pure in design, comes in two choices of semi-matt natural aluminium and black with a Teflon coating. It features laser engraved logos on temples, frontal upper edge and nose pads. The shockproof, optical quality CR39 lenses come in seven colours Ð black, transparent fade to silver, grey fade to silver, mirrored grey, blue grey, khaki and brown.
