Samson and Delilah boost Rx capacity

Independent frame and lens supplier Dunelm has increased its production capacity by a third with a £150,000 investment in state-of-the-art machinery.

The company is the first to market with two new automated edging systems that can dry cut all prescription lenses within two minutes.

The company said that the Optronics 7 EA units, nicknamed Samson and Delilah, offer a 'right first time' production service with industry-leading speed and accuracy. The stacking system holds 20 trays at any one time and Dunelm said it would increase production capacity by 30 per cent and significantly enhance its 'by return' service to opticians.
