British contact lens and solutions manufacturer Sauflon will become only the second company to launch a daily disposable silicone hydrogel lens on the global optical market when it introduces Clariti 1 Day on November 2.

The lens, described by Sauflon as the first SiH daily to be exclusively available to eye care professionals (ECPs), is a result of five years of research and development and follows the successful launch last September of its sister product Clariti monthly, a third-generation monthly silicone hydrogel.

Sauflon UK sales director Bradley Wells claimed the patented British invention would revolutionise the market, with 3.5 times the level of oxygen required for optimum ocular heath and the lowest modulus (0.5mpa) and highest water content (56 per cent) available in SiH daily lenses.
