Scheme to help Afghanaid

Charity

A pilot scheme to supply glasses to villages in Afghanistan was launched last week by Surrey dispensing optician Kelly Carr.

She has arranged for Afghanaid to distribute 150 pairs of glasses to some of the remotest parts of the country and aims to supply thousands more in the future.

Carr, pictured with David Page of Afghanaid, said: 'From frames to lenses, glazing to sight test charts and cases to packaging, everyone has donated time, products, energy and enthusiasm to giving the gift of sight to areas of crisis. This particular project is reaching out to the people of Afghanistan via Afghanaid an amazing charity that has local people doing local things to make a difference.'
