School faces dog dilemma

Guide dogs featured prominently in the media this week after two reports of blind people being denied access with their dogs.

The first related to deaf and blind teenager Molly Watt, who was not attending school because another pupil's allergic reaction had resulted in her guide dog being banned from the canteen.

A spokesperson for Guide Dogs said: 'This is a complicated matter, and Guide Dogs is working with the school and Molly's family to find a solution that enables both pupils to attend.

'We are continuing to support Molly and her family in finding solutions that will accommodate the needs of both pupils, but recognise that it is for the school to meet these needs.'
