Primary school children in Birmingham took part in the finale of the Zeiss Challenge Your Imagination programme at Millennium Point on July 7.
A panel judged 11 schools who pitched innovative product ideas that aid visual impairments before a day of workshop sessions and an awards ceremony.
The year-long competition was funded by Zeiss and delivered by Learn by Design to give pupils from 20 local schools the opportunity to learn about optics, robotics and visual impairment.
Each school designed a product that used optics or robotics to help people see better in different situations and presented their ideas using posters and models to a panel.
