Scope announces IP bursary winners

Scope Eyecare has announced the winners of its Independent Prescriber Bursary Awards 2023 at an event where six finalists presented their case studies in front of a panel.  

Judges included Professor Nick Rumney, Sarah Farrant, Louise Madden and Ailbhe Ni Raighne who all commended the finalists for their dedication to patient care.  

A £1,500 bursary was awarded to the three winners: Nkosi Yearwood from A&A Stevens Opticians in Caerphilly, Lucky Aziken from Specsavers Blackwood in Cardiff (pictured), and Imar Vania from East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust in Canterbury.  

Edel Duffy, head of medical at Scope, said the company was delighted the scheme had created interest among optometrists who wanted to upskill for the benefit of their patients.
