WCSM Education Trust bursary winners complete first year of training

Winners of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM) Education Trust bursary scheme have finished their first year of training.

From over 240 applications, just 25 people were selected to receive the £1000 bursary in July 2016. Applicants from 10 different UK institutions were chosen, with courses ranging from dispensing diplomas to degrees in orthoptics and optometry.

Karla Mackenzie has used her bursary to help with travel costs from her home in North Scotland to ABDO College in Kent.

She said: ‘Being awarded the bursary has opened so many doors for me. I have just recently celebrated fifteen years in practice and I am eager to learn and do even more. I strive to improve in practice every day and I am so grateful for the help this bursary has given me.’
