WCSM launches third bursary award scheme

The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM) Education Trust has announced the launch of its third annual bursary award scheme.

The bursaries have been designed to provide extra financial support at the start of a programme in order to attract and retain students in optics.

This bursary allows students due to start optical training courses in September 2018 to apply for up to £1,000 towards course costs. They will be asked to explain what inspired their interest in the profession and how the bursary would make a difference to their studies.

Professor Chris Hull, chairman of the WCSM Education Trust, said: ‘We are delighted at the success of the scheme.It is really important that we keep working to attract talented individuals into all branches of optics for the future of the professions. We have seen inspiring applications and we are excited to see what the 2018 applications will hold.’
