Optometry Scotland (OS) has announced that community eye care services will continue uninterrupted, following the imposition of more severe coronavirus countermeasures across Scotland.

It was announced on October 7 that many pubs and restaurants would have to close in Scotland, with Scots advised against non-essential travel.

‘It will be important for all practices to continue to remind patients that community eye care practices are operating with the use of the NHS approved PPE, fully compliant with NHS infection control procedures and remain a safe environment for the provision of all primary eye care services,’ said the OS statement.

OS also highlighted that its consultation with the Scottish government community eye care team was positive and ongoing.
