Six events will take place across Scotland this month to raise awareness of the new GOS contract which will start next April.
As well as discussing the contract (News, October 28) the events will discuss the eye examination and 'care pathways' that will be implemented next year.
'The courses will be run by Scottish Committee of Optometrists on behalf of Optometry Scotland and the Scottish Executive,' said Lorna
Cameron, secretary of SCO.
'There will be a series of compulsory meetings following on from the awareness meeting running from January to April which will address competency and knowledge in relation to the new contract. Details for this will be released around Christmas.'
This month's events take place in: Perth (7th), Edinburgh (9), Aberdeen (12), Inverness (15), Glasgow (16), and Ayr (19).
The meetings follow a Care Pathways in Scotland event held last month at Stirling University.
