Scrivens is to run a television advertising campaign in the south for the first time since it bought Melson Wingate.

The promotion will be broadcast in ITV's Meridian region and is expected to reach nearly 2 million viewers across Dorset and Hampshire.

It will be the first time Scrivens has gone on television to advertise in the region since it purchased Bournemouth-based Melson Wingate in 2002.

Andrea Callaway, Scrivens marketing director, said: 'This is a very exciting development and reinforces our commitment to the region.  The advert links the Scrivens and Melson Wingate names to powerfully build the brand. It also promotes our wide range of glasses and contact lenses, through a simple but highly visual and creative campaign.

'The fact we offer great value is also reinforced with our sunglass offer, and our heritage of providing a highly professional service also comes across.'

The commercial will be seen in a region in which 17 of the group's outlets are based, and Scrivens intends to roll out its TV advertising to other areas.
